All Ecuadorian schools have just reopened after being closed during the recent government crack down on criminal gang activities in the larger cities. Fortunately, Bahia de Caraquez has been declared medium risk, unlike the high risk in the larger cities.

On Friday, I was able to visit the school and was warmly greeted by the principal, teachers and students. It was lovely to see them back in school again in their regular routines. Yesterday was just a day to reconnect with the school. The teacher workshops introducing the teachers to the 100+ books that we brought will occur in February. Here are a few photos of my visit yesterday.

Busy classroom full of active second graders.
Teacher Silvia supporting young learners. Notice that Silvia is barefooted. No shoes in the classrooms.

Just a typical classroom with busy students.
Here is a teacher giving instructions to her students at the end of the day.
High school students, some that I met last year on my 2023 visit. Fun to see them again.
Lots of love at Sathya Sai.
This is a kindergarten classroom. It’s “practice writing” time.
Mozdeh, the English language teacher and dear friend.
End of another beautiful day in Bahia! We will post more pictures later.
